RAM Truck Sales Soar in June

The numbers are in, and Chrysler is reporting an 8 percent increase in sales last month, thanks to an impressive 11 percent increase in car deliveries and incredible gains of 23 percent for the RAM Truck brand. This marked the automaker's 39thstraight month of increases for U.S. sales.

Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Nesvold, speaks about gains in the overall automotive market, explaining, "The auto cycle seems poised to up-shift to 3rd gear. Consumer spending has held up despite higher payroll taxes and federal spending cuts, and we expect automotive purchases to remain strong as consumers replace aging vehicles and credit is becoming more available and at lower rates."1

June sales started off strong for the RAM Truck brand, due to an extended Memorial Day weekend with plenty of special deals, then rose again when July 4th incentives went into place.

But, what else is motivating truck buyers? Well, there are a number of factors, including higher stock prices, more construction activity, a more stable economy, and stable gasoline prices are a few of the reasons trucks are hot right now. TrueCar.com reports this popularity, especially with higher trim level models, drove the average transaction price up $617 over last June's numbers. It seems that people are currently willing to spend a bit more for luxurious features.
