Subaru XV Crosstrek Takes Top Spot in Cars.com Subcompact SUV Challenge

This morning we were treated to a press release announcing the results of the 2015 Cars.com Subcompact SUV Challenge. Seven vehicles competed in the 200-mile varying-terrain course through the state of Colorado, including the Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade, and Honda HR-V. On hand to evaluate the vehicles were expert judges from Cars.com, USA Today, and Motorweek. To add a consumer point of view, a young couple in the market for a new subcompact SUV were also invited to be judges.

Each SUV was analyzed for handling, comfort, performance, features, and cargo space. We were excited to learn that the Subaru XV Crosstrek outpaced the competition to earn top honors.

"This subcompact SUV felt like the 'grownup' of the group, with an oversized cargo area and a delightfully quiet ride. Overall, it did the best job of packing in impressive, high-tech safety features, ample creature comforts and a great ride for a low price," said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com's editor-in-chief.

The XV Crosstrek was recently named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS. Its impressive off-road capabilities come from its ample ground clearance, fortified chassis, and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. It is one of the most fuel-efficient models in its class, delivering and estimated 34 highwaympg.
