The Correct Way to Parallel Park

Parallel parking is something many people fail on their driver's license test. It can be difficult to grasp at first, but after a few times it'll get easier. Here's how you should parallel park:

  • Drive around until you find a spot that will fit your car.
  • Pull your car next to the car in front of the spot until it's parallel with the other car.
  • Stop, and while you're stopped turn your wheels all the way to the right. Check to make sure the coast is clear, then being backing up.
  • Stop backing up when the right-front headlight of the car behind you is in the middle of your rear windshield.
  • While stopped, turn you wheel back to the middle. Then slowly begin backing up until your car just clears the car in front of you.
  • Stop and turn your wheel all the way to the left. Keep backing in until your car is parallel, then turn your wheels forward.
