Your circadian rhythm affects how you drive.

You've probably head warnings about the dangers of driving tired. Did you know that it's not only how much you sleep that matters? It turns out when you sleep may be just as important!

To sum up the study:

  • Chronotype is the pattern of sleep that is coded in your DNA (i.e. are you a night owl, or an early-riser?)
  • 29 university students with distinct chronotypes took a simulated driving test at various times of day.
  • Morning people performed better than night owls at 8am and 8pm
  • Both morning people and night people did poorly between 2-3pm and 3-5am.

No matter what time of day it is, we at Dulles Motorcars Leesburg urge everyone to always drive with caution, especially with Daylight Savings Time coming to really mess with your sleep cycle!
